About Dr. Harrison

John B. Harrison, D.D.S., M.Sc.

Dr. Harrison’s father was a pioneer orthodontist in the state of Florida and the first to practice on the West Coast of Florida, establishing his practice in St. Petersburg and Clearwater in 1931. No other practice can come close in claiming 77 years of continuous commitment to the community and profession. Dr. John is a graduate of St. Pete High, Vanderbilt University, Emory Dental, and received his Masters Degree in Orthodontics from the University of North Carolina. He maintains active participation in Dental Education as courtesy professor of orthodontics at the University of Florida Dental Residency Program (beginning his 17th year), and with the National Seattle Study Club of Restorative Dentists. He currently serves the American Association of Orthodontists as a member of their Council on Health Care and Code Committee. He authored the Insurance Manual for Orthodontic Practice for the Southern Association of Orthodontists for which he was awarded the Oren Oliver Distinguished Service Award. He is a past president of the St. Petersburg Rotary Club and very active in club projects

Dr. John, a.k.a. "Doctor Jaws" to many kids, is Lay Leader for the First United Methodist Church where he is one of the few lifelong members; Bible Study and Sunday School are his passion. Other than that, family(grandchildren), fishing, hunting and boating fill his spare time.
